This is such a beautiful old bottle and one of my favorite possessions. A gift to me from a very dear friend. It belonged to her mother, but she just didn't love it like I do. Lucky me!

 My husband David bought me a bouquet of beautiful tulips just to show me spring is really here. (Yes, he is a sweetie.) So what if we get a little snow tomorrow. Snow Shmoe! I got my tulips and I'm holding on tight. They will be in some paintings and when I'm finished we can all go to the beach! Yippee!...but for now, have an apple.

OK, so it's not a large version, shown in the different stages of rendering like I said I was thinking of doing but it is a pomegranate. This was suppose to be posted yesterday, however you know how it goes when you have plans....I do have some great news though, I signed up for a workshop with one of my favorite artists Abbey Ryan . Yes, again with the pomegranate and glasses. Tomorrow I will start a larger version of the first one I painted with the green glass. I think I will photograph the painting as I go in the different stages to show my process. Might be fun! sometimes one of my kids will see one of my paintings in the beginning stages and they always say the same thing "Mom! what is that?!" they look very skeptical when I explain to them that it is actually going to be a painting of a barn, ocean or maybe even a pomegranate.

This pomegranate was on it's way to looking like a tomato many times! 

Green Glass with Pomegranate

I spent a whole day photographing glasses with this pomegranate. It was the only thing appealing for painting in the fridge. I ate the radishes, they were beautiful and tasty and the persimmone went bad. Hate when that happens! I have heard artists say this, and I can't help but say the same, what we must look like in the produce department. After a while of looking at the fruit and vegatables I think I need to leave before they remove me. It's crazy. When I buy a lemon for my salad, I grab three and put them in the bag. When I'm buying a lemon to paint, well not just any lemon will do.      

Glass Study on Black

One morning while having my coffee a group of glasses on the kitchen counter caught my eye. The north light coming in through the window was illuminating the glasses in such a way that it turned an ordinary kitchen counter filled with dishes from a late night party the night before into something magical. That is how the creative process works for me sometimes. So I remember a painting I saw a while back and go looking for it. I find it. A beautiful painting of glasses with a lemon on a white background and so I am inspired. Inspired by both a painting and the scene in my kitchen. This simple sketch, like the one before is my practice to get familiar with looking at glass again or should I say, through glass again!

Loved painting this again! Such a beautiful farm near my home. These are just two of the buildings. Wanted to try something a little different with the size and shape. Painted the foreground a bit loose and abstract.  

Oil Painting Windsor Farm

Did anybody miss me ? I'm Back!   

This painting is a frequent subject right down the street from my house and this photo is older. Today after the storm at about 4pm, "the magic hour" I grabed my camera and off to the farm I went! The light after a storm is always spectacular but the light from a setting sun after a storm, well, it just doesn't get any better!  I will work on those photo's next week.

I love drinking tea in the afternoon. When I was a teenager my friends and I drank so much tea. I bet we drank 4 or 5 cups a day. Tea and cigarette's, better then cigarette's and chocolate milk. I expect only a few will get that reference. No wonder we stayed up so late on school nights!

I was inspired this morning to paint this white bowl from a favorite artist's daily painting. Duane Keiser painted a white cup on a white background. It was stunning to say the least. I have always wanted to paint this soup can. I wonder why....hmmm. Anyway tomorrow maybe I will add a bowl or spoon or just go crazy and paint them all! :)
