The last tomato painting

Last Tomato, 8 x 10 inch oil on canvas
Sold

I painted these tomatoes for a client to choose from. This is the last one. No more tomatoes! Until summertime and my husbands garden is popping with delicious fresh Jersey tomatoes. These are the store bought vine ripe variety. (try saying that 3 x's fast) They are perfect in color, very little variation, perfect shape. I found them a bit tricky to paint because I had to try to add interest when there was nothing interesting about the tomato. I really enjoy painting the ones from the garden so much better. They come in odd shapes and I love the interesting cracks and oozing holes from the worms and bugs. Yummy.

Nice painting. Especially like how you treated the edges.
